Annual Southeast Building Conference Recent Developments in Florida Law for Contractors
Location: Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL
The Southeast Building Conference (SEBC) was a huge hit with all in attendance. In its 28th year, the 2006 SEBC show featured a record 1,000 booths and a comprehensive lineup of professional designation courses. One such professional course was Harper Gerlach’s seminar entitled Employment Law for Contractors. The seminar covered topics including avoiding discrimination in the workplace, the proper use of drug testing, workers compensation and testing the true status of independent contractors.
Along with Tom, Gregg and Gary, Jerry Akel, Esq. of the Law Offices of Jerry B. Akel spoke during the seminar. The four men were each well-received and garnered rave reviews.
In addition to the seminar, Harper Gerlach hosted a booth in the main convention hall. This experience, giving us the chance to meet and speak with members of the construction industry from all across the state, was not only memorable and exciting, but fun as well. We certainly look forward to next year’s show.
